Customer Profiles - Schmidt Partership, George & Barbara Schmidt of Floresville, TX
Since 1983, George and Barbara Schmidt have been involved with Texas Longhorns.
Recently relocated to the Texas hill country town of Floresville, the Schmidt Partnership is now able to run all 75 head of their Longhorn cattle in one location. Barbara said she has used LonghornMax since 2001 to keep her cattle records.
“I got it right away,” she said, “Terrell and Penny have been great. I actually heard about the software from Terrell’s uncle, Wayne DuBose.”
Barbara said she thinks everyone should use the software.
“I used to carry a ring binder around with pedigrees and paper notes, but it was bulky and time consuming,” she said.
“With LonghornMax, it’s simplified. I can have all my files with the click of a button.”
She uses the pictures feature in LonghornMax to show her cattle to potential customers.
“I can print the pedigree with pictures of the sire and dam,” she said, “I love that.”
She said she carries around the cattle inventory report from LonghornMax all the time and updates it constantly with pasture notes to record later. Barbara uses the preset reports in LonghornMax to print everything she needs.
“With the calf report, all of the information is right there without reading through tons and tons of handwritten notes like before,” she said.
