Activation
A one-time process of registering your computer with the software, and is separate from entering your ranch name and serial number
Base
Also known as "around the polll". The circumference of the horn at the largest point.
Category
A way of designating similar cattle that can be filtered in reports. Examples of categories include Breeding Cows, Replacement Heifers and Herd Sires. Cattle can only have one Category designation.
Composite
The sum of the Total Horn and Tip to Tip Horn
Filtering
A way to narrow entries on a report to just those that meet a certain criteria.
Herd Update
A feature in LonghornMax that enables you to quickly update a group of cattle records.
Promote
This is how LonghornMax recognizes that a calf record is now in the mature (Cows/Bulls) list. Example: promote a replacement heifer to a mother cow.
Serial Number
Issued for each purchase of LonghornMax . Licenses you to use the program. Must be entered into the program in order to continue use of the program past the 30-day trial period.
Sorting
A way to indicate how you would like the entries listed on the lists and reports.
Status
This is how LonghornMax knows what animals to show on inventory reports. Active cattle are those in your inventory.
Tip to Tip (TT)
The length from each tip of the horn, a straight line. This is a common measurement.
Total Horn (TH)
The total length following the horn and always greater than the Tip to Tip
Type
Indicates whether the animal is a Bull, Cow Calf, or Steer.
