About Us

Learn how LonghornMax started back in 2001 and has become the software it is today. The combination of our customer's feedback and our team's enthusiasm helps ensure continued growth.

The Start of Cattlesoft

Terrell and Penny Miller The idea for developing a cattle software program came to Terrell and Penny Miller who had met while students at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. The result of an independent study project for a class planted the seed for the start of the CattleMax software. As Terrell and Penny were starting their married life in 1999, an opportunity to develop a program for the cattle record keeping needs of Hilliard Ranches in Milam County, Texas was presented.

The incredible response to the basic software program by Jim Howell, ranch manager for Hilliard Ranches, and the reaction of other cattle producers encouraged Terrell and Penny to pursue the CattleMax software on a wider scale and commit to the business full-time.

The Start of LonghornMax

Terrell's family was involved in the Texas Longhorn for many years. Long-time breeders may know Wayne and Billie DuBose as well as Norman and Sandy Hoff. At the encouraging of Terrell's Uncle Wayne, he and Penny began to modify the CattleMax software for Texas Longhorn cattle. Early in the development, it was determined that due to the unique characteristics and record keeping needs of Texas Longhorn cattle, a separate cattle program would be needed. This is how LonghornMax began.

Today

Now, over 7 years later, LonghornMax is used by hundreds of Texas Longhorn breeders throughout the world. The continued support and feedback has been quite encouraging that LonghornMax is now on its 4th version of the software.

In 2006, we were honored for our company to be included in the Aggie 100, which recognizes the fastest growing Aggie owned and operated companies. Cattlesoft was the only agricultural company to be awarded this achievement. ("Aggies" are graduates of Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.)
